Canstruction is an annual food drive competition in which teams build structures based on a theme provided by the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Canstruction is an international hunger relief charity that raises millions of pounds of food each year for food banks around the world. Teams design and build giant structures made entirely out of full cans of food and non-perishable food items. At the end of the exhibition in Central Florida, all of the food is donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to help feed our neighbors facing hunger.

Members of each team assemble their concepts within an 8x8x8-foot space at Orlando Science Center. The annual exhibit’s goal is to raise awareness about hunger – which affects one in seven adults and one in five children locally – while providing resources to Second Harvest Food Bank. Second Harvest is Central Florida’s largest network of partners working to feed Central Floridians in need. Upon “de-canstructing” their displays, teams from Orange and Seminole counties donated 16,871 pounds of food to Second Harvest. The firms that participated this year are: Robins and Morton, Roger, Lovelock & Fritz, Finfrock, Huitt-Zollars, Fugleberg Koch, Cuhaci Peterson, Whiting Turner, SchenkelShultz and Addition Financial-Seminole.

We CAN do WHATEVER it takes to solve food insecurity!
