For several years, Cuhaci & Peterson has been closely involved with the University of Florida’s CityLab-Orlando program. C&P President Jed Downs has attended numerous graduations and last night attended the ceremony for the most recent round of architecture graduates. However, this particular event was a little bit different for him.

Back in August of 2016, at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Florida Conference, Jed announced that we would be working with the ICSC Foundation to endow a scholarship in architecture to honor C&P Co-founder Lonnie Peterson. Many letters, phone calls and emails later, Jed got to tell the crowd that we have reached our $50,000 fundraising goal and will be putting the Lonnie G. Peterson Scholarship in Architecture into place in 2017, to begin benefitting students of the CityLab program. It was well received and those from C&P, CityLab and ICSC are excited to continue working together for this great cause.

It really goes to show what a positive impact Lonnie Peterson has had on the architecture and commercial retail design industry over his time in Central Florida. Over 40 companies (full list below) have been a part of the fundraising. Additionally, C&P matched the donations dollar for dollar for the first $25,000 donated.

Information on how students can apply for the scholarship will be made available in early 2017.
