According to bid documents related to the Pennsylvania-based convenience store’s search for a general and subcontractors, work is expected to start at 1111 19th St. NW on Aug. 7. Prospective GCs are being asked to bid on a 116-day schedule, which puts delivery in the final month of 2017. The bid date is Tuesday.
At 8,400 square feet, this store will be larger than the typical Wawa and it will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Its layout, according to contractor documents, is typical for a Wawa — coffee center and specialty beverages up front, then the deli-sandwich counter, a large retail area, self-serve cold beverage center and public restrooms. The Wild Goose Cafe will offer interior seating, and there will be, it appears, seating for at least 24 outside.
The store was designed by Blue Bell, Pennsylvania-based Cuhaci & Peterson Architects.Tags: Washington D.C., Wawa
