The circumstances surrounding Covid-19 have become a catalyst with regard to moving the need for safe and efficient grocery with less person to person contact. Micro-fulfillment provides high capacity fulfillment, designed to operate around the clock, and it addresses both labor and the economic pressures experienced by grocers in their quest to deliver upon today’s increased eCommerce demands.
Recently, C&P Senior Vice President of Design, Steven Duffy, served as a resource for the team at Georg Utz, Inc., as part of a white paper that delves into how micro-fulfillment will support the next wave of retail innovation, enabling a safer, more efficient, and convenient shopping experience.
Looking ahead to a post-COVID world, Duffy expects the micro-fulfillment trend to grow significantly over the next 12 months. And while some early innovators encountered challenges because the technology vendors didn’t understand complexity of the grocery space, Duffy says that has since changed.
