Vote for C&P/T&G’s “Food So Fresh It Grabs You” for Patron’s Choice

Watch a video from build day

The hunger problem in the United State is two-fold. First is the challenge of getting food to all those who don’t have it; Secondly, is helping people choose the healthiest options possible. The Cuhaci & Peterson/T&G Constructors structure is a bento box that includes sushi, sashimi and a brightly colored octopus, food so fresh it grabs you. The statistic that over 48 million people in the U.S. live in food insecure households should also grab you. Over and above a lack of food for many, is the issue that those who depend on others for their daily bread don’t have the ability to be picky about the nutritional value of what they are consuming.

It’s in that same vein that our 2016 cansculpture represents a snapshot of the Japanese diet, known to be one of the healthiest around. The main ideas of our structure are the seafood component, the orange color of the octopus and the bento box itself. The fresh seafood speaks to the overarching need to help provide the healthiest choices possible to those who need nutrition and substance in their diets the most. The orange color of the octopus represents the ambition and purposeful commitment Canstruction has to seeing hunger reduced year over year. Finally, the bento box is a single portion meal, which represents how the fight to stop hunger will be won, one meal at a time, one can at time.

While we thank you for taking the time to read this and hope that you will vote for “Food So Fresh It Grabs You” as your favorite, we also implore you to think about what you can do in your community to help. Anything from donating cans or even some time could make a difference. If we continue coming together and working to help those less fortunate hopefully, we CAN do something IncrEDIBLE one person at a time.

Our C&P team members were fortunate to get the opportunity to team up with several folks from T&G Constructors this year. Eva Weingarten from T&G said, “I really enjoyed getting to work with everyone from Cuhaci & Peterson. I thought the engineers did a great job building our animated can-octopus, and everyone who helped design the canstructure did an awesome job organizing it. It was a fun and creative way to give back to the community, and I’m looking forward to doing it again!” So in addition to thanking everyone at T&G who teamed with us, another giant thank you goes out to the sponsors that made this build possible. When all is said and done you’ve helped us bring a great deal of food to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and in turn, to our community. We couldn’t have done it without you!
