Cuhaci & Peterson is searching for a dynamic Project Architect with 8 to 10 year’s experience to join our growing team in our Orlando office. Founded in 1978 we are a nationally recognized architecture and engineering firm with 270+ employees and 4 offices with a passion for our people and clients. The ideal candidate will be an empathetic, honest, organized, and proactive leader who will assist our Client, a popular regional convenience store chain with 800 stores in six states, grow their business by 200 new stores over the next three years.
Working in conjunction with the Project Manager, the Project Architect will grow an established practice and produce construction documents, based on our Clients established prototypes, for over 65 new stores a year. The Project Architect will be required to meet Client deadlines, establish internal goals and milestones, delegate project responsibilities, and grow team profit margins. As a team leader they will engage in ongoing talent development and acquisition, in conjunction with Human Resources and the Director of Architecture, to grow their team of high caliber Senior Project Coordinators, Project Coordinators, and Architectural Graduate level staff in direct relation to increased project volume.
The successful candidate will co-lead a team of 30+ professionals including seventeen architectural staff and our dedicated in-house structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and permitting teams. Responsibilities will include preparation of construction documents and specifications, permitting (including responding to permit comments and communicating directly with building officials), bid documents, and construction administration. The Project Architect will also lead and coordinate code research, prototype change management, maintain high standards through quality assurance and quality control, day to day production team scheduling, and project tracking. Candidate will interface on a daily basis with the Clients corporate store design team, corporate construction team, and local construction project managers. Candidate will also directly manage successful relationships with general contractors, sub-contractors, Client vendors, and oversee scheduled site observations and punch lists.
Licensure (or licensure in Florida within six months), excellent written and verbal skills, and in-depth knowledge of the current Florida Building Code and Florida Fire Protection Code are required. Working knowledge of the International Building Code (2009, 2012, & 2015), NCARB certificate and/or ability to be licensed in other states, and knowledge of AutoCad and Revit are desired but not required.
